Natural fibres need natural care.
Your FLOS bikini is made from 100% natural cotton— no synthetics, no plastic blends, and no compromises. Just like your skin, it deserves to be treated with care. While cotton swimwear doesn’t behave quite like its synthetic counterparts, with a little love, it wears-in beautifully and lasts season after season.
Here’s how to care for it gently and intentionally:
1. Rinse after every swim or sauna session
Whether you’ve been in the salt of the sea, the chlorine of a pool, or the steam of the sauna, give your bikini a quick, gentle rinse in clean water afterwards. This helps wash away residue, keeping the cotton fresh and soft.
2. Hand wash with a mild, non-toxic detergent
Machine washing can be rough on natural fibres — and so can harsh chemicals. Instead, fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water and swish your bikini gently with a natural, skin-safe soap. This preserves both the fibres and your connection to low-tox living.
3. Dry flat in the shade or evening sun
To help your bikini hold its shape, dry it flat on a towel or drying rack — ideally in the shade. Direct sunlight can weaken fibres and cause fading, while hanging can lead to stretching over time.
A note on natural fibres
Unlike synthetics, cotton doesn’t snap back with stretch — and it may take a little longer to dry. But in return, it’s breathable, skin-friendly, and biodegradable. It’s a small trade-off for something that honours your body and the earth.
